Essaouira's Main Street Gets a Face Lift  (Photo - Main Street between Bab Sba and the Place Moulay Hassan) Essaouira's Main Street Gets a Face Lift Things are really moving fast in Essaouira in preparation for the New Diabet Golf and the Atlas Luxury Hotel. The number of public improvements currently underway is astounding. In the last few weeks I wrote about all the fantastic new projects on the beach. Earlier I covered the new sewage system. Now the improvements are reaching the Medina. This week workers completely replaced the road and brick at the end of main street near Bab Sba. The new bricks look really great with nice patterns and the general blue and white color scheme of Essaouira (see photo above). In Other News:
Great show at the Alliance Françoise this week with the performance of «Paris-Bukarest» by Nathalie Joly. She was really fantastic and brought me back to the 40's with her interpretation of songs by the legendary Romanian folk singer Maria Tanase. The songs were in French and were about love and war. Nathalie and her accordion playing husband were perfect together and really created the atmosphere of a bar somewhere in post war Romania. The event was full and a great success.The wind farm in Sidi Kaouki is finally up and running. I was at the Beach Bar yesterday for a sunset beer and noticed a few of the windmills turning. Last week they were all dormant. This means that the new electric station being built at the top of the hill near Diabet must be near completion. Everything is really moving along for Diabet Golf.
Weather - Spring is here and the weather is warm. There will be a 2 meter swell all week and the surf will be best in the mornings on the bay. The afternoons will be great for windsports.
